Cool JKD Seal

Greetings,

Please could someone help me out?

In June I'll graduate from Univeristy with a Philosophy degree and begin my quest to become a martial arts instructor.

I have seen an advert for an intensive instructors course in a british magazine called 'The Seal Program & Progressive Fighting System' which is graded by a guy called Mike Faraone.

Does anyone know if this would be a good course to help me in my quest?

I look forward to your replies.

Socrates

Socrates,
Really anything you learn will help you in your quest. I do not know anything specific about that course. Research as many styles as you can. Look into JKDC and JFJKD schools in your area. As I do not know where you live in the UK , I am not sure what is close by. I know Marc McFann has an instructor who has a school over there ( Dave Green). I think Lamar Davis has an apprentice instructor there as well. I also urge you to other discussion forums.Like Big JKD and Authentic Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Forum.
I hope this helps. Absorb what is useful, add what is uniquely your own , disregard the rest!

Jack

you will have to do a lot of studying my friend before becoming a instructor in any thing. Of course you could enroll yourself in one of those black belt acceleration courses in karate - where they teach you a bunch of katas and then certify you. The only problem with that is you still wont know how to fight. There is a lot to learn in MA's - take your time....

Maybe I can help you.

I'm fron Italy; and I study under a former full instructor of Mr. Faraone. Basically the SEAL program is a copycat of the RAT system, only that Faraone cannot label it so because of copyrights.

I was introducted to the SEAL (Survive, Enter, Assault;Leave) some six months ago.

Basically at the longer distance you will use destructions, then you will be taught the straight blast and HKE.

For what I've seen, the method work only if you train it ALOT full contact and with full commitment.

As far as something that is geared toward novices in order to build an arsenal in a short time; it's a joke. Destructions and the blast are WAY away from the natural response of someone under combat stress. I was able to apply my vale tudo training immedately: Cover; clinch;HKE or takedown, ad GnP.

The seal method for me require a WHOLE lot of training to be effective; and even then, it's difficul to apply in real life.

My personal opinion. Hope it helps.
