Fist Who did Bruce ever spar?

I read on Joe Lewis web site that in all the time he trained with Bruce Lee, they never sparred. So if he didn't spar him, who did he spar? Did he spar as part of his training? I am not trying to put down BL or disrespect him I am just curious.

Also who did he fight spar at that famous demo at Ed Parkers tournament?

Hmm... nice question. That's odd indeed because Bruce Lee sparred his students while he was in Collage. I guess Joe Luwis just got unlucky... Because most of Bruce Lee's training was sparring and oerworking his body. Very odd indeed...

There are always stories about how Bruce Lee beat up Sammo Hung, Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, Bolo Yeung, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Dan Inosanto, Burt Ward, The Shadow, Green Lantern and the Easter Bunny. Take all of them with a grain of salt.

His sparring demo was with Dan Inosanto at the Long Beach In.

I know in Chuck Norris's book I can't remeber the name of it it's I think itj's something like "Zen Soultions to Lifes Problems" any way Chuck writes specifically in that book about sparring sessions he had with Bruce Lee and some of the things he and Bruce learned from those sessions.

Interesting. I knew they had been training together, but I didn't know that they were sparring at the time. (In an interview with Geoff Thompson, Chuck was talking about how he taught Bruce a lot about doing high kicks. Most people assumed he learned all that from Northern Chinese styles of kung fu.)

I have Norris' book "Secret Power Within" and he says they often sparred. Re: the high kicks, when Norris met Lee, Lee didn't believe high kicks could be delivered effectively on a good opponent. At least not with a high success rate. Norris proved him wrong by continuously hitting Lee with a high kick during sparring. Then he taught some effective high kicking methods to Lee.

There's also a story about this in the same book, about how Lee was wondering why he couldn't counter Norris' kick even he knew a counter to it. Norris saw Lee try the counter a few times and then said to him, "try it slower for a couple of times, then you'll get the timing right" (not exact quote). When this worked, Lee got exited about the idea of "slowing down to become faster", he thought it was like a zen riddle.
