MOVE....Just kidding. It is impossible to learn MA by yourself, no matter how many books/videos you have. Is there any boxing in your town? Do you have a wrestling team you could join? Look into it - even though the boxing and wrestling are strictly sport and greatly limit your arsenol you will be able to develop proper boxing mechanics and control when grappling. Of course you can supplement your training with video's and books but you need to practice with another person - to get the combat feel. Also, be on the look out for seminars - you should be able to find a city with in 4hrs that you could travel to for a seminar for a weekend(you get some good info at seminars). If your interested in the jkdjunfan curriculum check out the web-sites of Danny Inosanto, Larry Hartsell, Paul Vunak, Eric Poulsen, and Burt Richardson - and look at their seminars to see if they might be visiting somewhere close by. Good Luck.

I live in a City in Mississippi and for years I traveled to Japan to train because my Great Grandfather has the ability to help me do so. I thought There was no instructors in my area and then I found a Kumiuchi Jui Jitsu School when I was 17. It had been 30 mins away for my entire life the man was trained in 17 arts and was a 5th degree in Jui Jitsu. His people got me hooked up with PFS and I even Found Jody Sasaki ( A Big Name in Kenpo) from a total Fraud. He claimed to be certified by jody and told Sifu that he ws certified by someone else. He no longer teaches Sifu Jody shut him down but he did intro me to Sifu Jody and Larry Tatum I also talked with Jeff Speakman due to his probing me before I learned he was a fraud. My point is this: Keep your ears open and you eyes looking and an opportunity will present itself. You can also email Thomas Cruse to ask about IPTPS or Jody Sasaki or any of numerous other qualified individuals. If you would like some help finding someone email me and I will help you find an instructor in something you are interested in. My Email addy is Jkdcatifs@aol.com.

Default Boxing perhaps?

Hi NOWAYASWAY

You didn't mention which city or state you lived in. (Are you in the U.S?)
I think you can find some kind of a boxing gym in most small towns even. I'd think that would be a good place to start considering that you have no other options.

You can learn to throw punches properly, jab, stick, move and punish your oponent. I think No matter what "Style" you decide to study later on, this knowledge of proper Punching will always be useful.

That's my two cents.

Ps. JKDMan, what happened with Speakman?
Come On! Don't tease us! LOL
