I used to do that a lot. Hitting flies is not easy. You have to anticipate there move. Even to this day I still hit flies. Kick 'um too. My kids are always amazed that I can kick flies out of the air. I'm in my forty's now and am still faster that both my sons 18 and 15.

LOL ... here's taking this a step further. I've seen my instructor knock bugs (most commonly bees) from the air with his Eskrima stick.
We had Willem de Thouars (Uncle Bill) in for a seminar. My instructor's daughter (about 4 at the time) held up a stick and said, "Uncle Bill ... do you know what this is?" Uncle Bill said, "What is it?" She said, "A flyswatter." ... and she was serious. That's what my instructor commonly uses ![]() Mike |

I too have a habit of striking at any flying bug...Its just so fun. But hitting one with an escrima stick in mid air would be pretty hard.

Sorry I cant post a pic but heres a description. There maybe 50cm long and about 2 cm thick and you hit people with them, they can be decerated. I think they sell them here in the shop they might have a pic.
