I'm going to Vietnam for two or three weeks in October. Anybody here been there (more recently than the fall of Saigon, hopefully) recently?

Haven't been there, but know some people there.

What's the trip for? From what I've seen it's a beautiful country, however there are lots of places that are very poor, etc.

be sure to check out some Vovinam when you're there.

The trip is for my own pleasure - I'm there for the food, sightseeing and photography, also to see some of the historical battlefields. I'm also thinking of teaching there for a year, but I'm only going for 2 or 3 weeks this time.

I will investigate Vovinam and any other kind of MA they've got over there. I've heard rumours of a Vietnamese Wing Chun branch, but I have no idea where that's taught.

I'll be able to stay for a couple of nights in Haiphong with the cousins of one of my friends. Hopefully I'll make some contacts there.

FYI -- One of my customers is the Telecommunications Ministry of Vietnam. I need to go over there sometime soon, so I'll let 'ya know.
