If you're looking to street-oriented/ self-defense/ personal protection type training look no further than Richard Dimitri or Sammy Franco's sites. www.senshido.com (Rich's) www.sammyfranco.com (Sammy's). As far as I'm concerned, they are at my top of the list for this type of training.
Hope this helps, newtoJKD |

The eye pokes in JkD are like jabs, snap them out, but they have to be accurate,so for a little girl, they might not work to well, best defense for her is to scream her little ass off and run.

Folks turn to screaming and running too much, sometimes. Screaming and running are strategies. While they are good strategies, they may fall short if she is grabbed and her mouth is covered. This happens often. Here are some solutions.
If her back is to the assailant, she should kick her feet back to smash the groin. Alternately, she can whip her head back to smash the nose. If her mouth is covered, she should bite with all her strength. If her throat is grabbed, she should power out by jamming the forearm of the assailant with her opposite arm, from inside to outside, while spinning towards the outside. Bring her other hand back with a knife hand to the groin, then run. If she is lifted above the assailant's head, she should place her thumbs on his eyes closest to the nose on either eye, and gouge as if she were reving an engine, only with the other fingers clamped to the sides of his head. The thumbs hook in and out towards the temples. She can use her shin or foot to kick the assailant in the groin. Knees, while painful, are less effective for little girls. Teach her wristgrab drills, where you grab her wrist and she twists free by circling towards the thumb and around to grab your wrist and you do the same. Repeat. A proper shuto (knife hand) isn't always the way one should throw it. If hard objects are encountered, the normal shuto may harm you fingers. I like to cross my pinky under my ring finger to protect it from impact, and the thumb must be curled in to the palm. This leaves the edge of the palm to take more of the shock. It is well suited for this. The target should be either side of the neck, or the adam's apple if you are sidelong. A reverse shuto (ridge hand) can be applied to the groin. The pointer finger should cross over the middle finger to protect it and allow the full shock to transmit to the first knuckle region of the hand. The best target for this is the groin, though throat shots can be successful. And as everyone knows (I think, anyway) palm heels can kill when aimed at an acute angle into the nose (thrusting up at the angle of the nose). Just some thoughts . . .
