Default Vale Tudo

Does anyone know what vale tudo is exactly

punching, kicking, grappling.

Is it classed as a martial art and is it good for self defence.

Does it mix well with jkd.

I believe that Vale Tudo is a Portugese/Brazillian term meaning "anything goes". The brazillians therefore had no rules fights, using stand up and ground work techniques.

"No rules" I beleive is a misnomer. Even for the mighty Brazilians, they did have rules in their contests.

Otherwise there would have been a very high death toll.

True. Even the "THERE ARE NO RULES" claims of the early UFC was bollocks.

What is Portugese for "No Rules Except for a few we don't really talk about"? Is it something like "Vale Tudo el bullshittio pretendo wanko"?
