Default International JKDU Seminar with Burton Richardson

Burton Richardson is presently hosting & conducting and International Mixed martial Arts Seminar this weekend in Hawaii. Being part of the JKDU family i was very dissapointed when my Visa was declined by the USA Embassy, as this weekend was set to be a blast. Besides Burton coaching at the seminar, guest appearances by well know coaches such as Egan Inoue and Baret Yoshida was also scheduled with a few more surprises. I am sure everybody is experiencing a information overload at this stage getting it from some of the world's leading figures in their respective fields. I am sure Burotn will post a review on the seminar this weekend but it will also be great to hear from a few of the particpants.

ttt for JKDU!!!!
Aloha!

The camp went better than could be expected. Many participants traveling from California, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Washington, Ohio, and from outer islands.
I unveiled the new format, and it was received enthusiastically, allowing our training to be even more focused and realistic than ever before.
Egan Inoue taught a great session Friday night, working clinch, finishing the single leg takedown, and ground. He showed a great finishing move while standing in the clinch. Everyone enjoyed Egan's friendly approach, attention to the fine details, and the techniques and tactics he presented.
Saturday morning Baret Yoshida worked everyone on defending and passing the guard for submission wrestling. Baret shared high level, practical techniques, and he highlighted many fine details that are easily missed. He then rolled for 45 minutes straight, submitting everyone he rolled with, despite the weight disadvantage.
I worked everyone on more kickboxing and clinch, with resistance, along with street tactics and considerations.
Saturday night we worked wall techniques in clinch, along with knife work. We then had a fencing demonstration by Colin Chock, local fencing instructor.
Sunday morning we started with more ground work, stick defense, then Baret came in again to work NHB ground work and tactics. He showed great ways to get off the ground and stand up safely, and great passes with striking.
I worked everyone on multiple attacker sparring, then free sparring (with varying intensity). Kickboxing, clinch, ground, whatever. Everyone had big smiles and lots of fun.
We finished the camp with an Apprentice Instructor test. Ken Eberle, 49 years old from Pennsylvania, gave one of the best performances yet. Knife sparring, stick sparring, kickboxing with takedowns, clinch with takedowns, passing guard, defending guard, and free sparring, all rounds with punches, kicks, elbows, knees, and headbutts allowed. He did fantastic, applying great technique in each round.
It was a great time, everyone was very happy with the training methods, techniques, and tactics. Best thing was the wonderful atmosphere, everyone enjoying the Aloha spirit.

Morné:

We were all very sorry to hear about your visa troubles. I have decided to start digging a tunnel from Honolulu to South Africa. This way, we can smuggle you out any time there is a seminar you'd like to attend. If you start one on your end too and we meet up in the middle, we could have the whole thing completed by the next camp (provided Burt has it in 2050, that is).

Take care,
Jim

Wink Good idea

Hey Jim,

And i thought all you guys do the whole day there is surf & train
Great idea re the tunnel. And if we set up a few toll gates we can make some $$$ out of it as well.

Yes it has been very frustrating re my Visa. If all goes well i should be visiting you guys next year, hopefully not via our tunnel.

Keep up the good work and looking forward trainign with you guys!!!!
