    Bruce Lee's Fighting Method

Bruce Lee's Fighting Method. Was it Jun Fan Gung-Fu, Jeet Kune Do or both? Explain!

    It was Jeet Kune Do.

Jun Fan was the system that Bruce developed to help other people find their own Jeet Kune Do.

So what about the nonsense that people say about OJKD. They that they are stuck back in time, only practicing the old.

Thats not true. They preserve the old as a foundation to build upon for the future. If it was good enough for Bruce, couldn't it be good enough for others?

Even if the OJKD's and JKDC's expanded techniques have walked two differant paths don't they share the same unbrella?

Well ... according to Dan Inosanto, there is no difference between the two. At the root of "JKDC" is "OJKD" (Guro Dan doesn't care for those terms ... there is simply "JKD").

The rift is, in my estimation (as an outsider looking in) purely political.

You said what I wanted to hear! But a lot don't see that. Some people take the concept like a Bible quote and think they're JKD has to evolve and until its totally something differant and then they say that the others are treating the original text like ita a Bible!

Of course mine is mine and what you do is yours but just don't trash me because mine looks differant than yours.

Couldn't agree more. Of course, there's the other side to your example. Those who say, "If you do anything other than what Bruce did, you're not doing JKD."

I personally think both sides of that coin are missing the boat. Bruce was all about what works for each individual.

So ... if, for person A, what Bruce did works, great! If, for person B, they find that they need something more, great!

True, my Sigung got bashed a bit by the other OJKD original students for walking his own path. But they didn't do it to his face.
They just tried to keep what they had to themselves and tried to pretend that there were on 5 or 6 of them.

The truth is out and when Bruce and James Lee died they looked to the senior student for guidance who was James student before bruce even went to Oakland!

They learned from him and stabbed him in the back!

It should of been True period. I was agreeing with you.
then I should of started a new paragraph.

The rest was about the politics in the original Oakland school. Thats all. My Sigung was James Lees student when James shared a school with Al Novak in Hayward, Ca. before Bruce moved to Oakland and he remained James Lees student up until he died shortly before Bruce died.

After Bruce and James were both dead, my Sigung contiued to teach. The others that wanted to train were welcome but the others did not teach at that time.

Also my Sigung was the "first" to teach Greg Lee, the son of James Lee. They all took from him but in the end gave him no respect.

Unfortunately, this type of behavior not uncommon in MA in general.

I've heard many stories in similar veins (i.e.: disrespect to instructor).

One friend of mine had a student in his FMA class. The student, I'll call him John Doe. John was one of the worst students my friend had ever had. Then John went off to a weekend training camp and came back as a "fully certified FMA instructor" (I'm sure you've seen ads for similar things). John started saying that what my friend was teaching was wrong ... a guy with a few months of training and a piece of paper trying to overrule a man with over 10 years in FMA. Well, needless to say, John didn't stick around as a student for much longer.

And it can also go the other way. One of my instructors was in a bar one night and got to talking to the head bouncer. The bouncer saw "Kali" and "Silat" on my instructor's shirt and struck up a conversation with him. The bouncer claimed to have trained in Kali and Silat for several years. My instructor asked the guy, "Who was your instructor?"
    The bouncer replied, "Ken Pannell."
My instructor said, "Really? I'm Ken Pannell. When did you train with me?"
The bouncer said, "Oh ... er ... umm ... I mean ... I trained with a guy who trained with you."

It's amazing how things sometimes work in the MA world.

Yup. And, more recently, there was a guy who trained with my instructor for about a year and had been gone from the school for over 2 years. This guy started talking smack on an internet forum. He claimed to still be a student at the school and even challenged people to come to the school to fight him. I had take a pooper scooper to the forum and clean up his mess. Then the guy had the temerity to e-mail me and say, "Well, I was hoping to training but I guess that's out of the question now, huh?"

    Gee ... ya think?

GUNG FU IS GUNG FU bruce has said JKD is JKD. With it at the base of the foundation what you have added and works well with it is yours. To expose and keep also can be a path expose your jkd to other forms of selfdefence to find how your jkd will work in different manners. Bruce did this through out his development explore and find drop and change. what and how is the individuals course of development to liberated jkd.
