Default Stitch That!

I've always like the headbutt as a weapon, but I've trained with people who would never use their head they feel that it's a bad move to impact your head.Sort of 'brains in here no bang, protect'.
How do you feel about butting as a weapon?

The thing that is tricky is training headbutts if you nut a bag you end up getting friction burns across your forehead - tres attractive!
If you nut a wall...
Best way I found was to get your victim uh I mean training partner to wear a skidlid (fullface) & butt that.

Happy butting

Cheers Jez

Thai Bri's tips for butting.

Hit with the forehead, above the eyeline. Hit him below the eyeline.

Stay away from his gob.

Don't try to nod your head into him, just tense your neck and thrust forwards.

Increase your power immensley by grabbing him and pulling him onto the butt. Grab clothing, or around the back of his head/neck.

Close your eyes and clench your teeth tightly on impact.

Train against relatively soft targets (like a soft punch bag), and go for quality over quantity. Getting skin burn type marks doesn't happen to me. Do you butt straight on or are you glancing them?

Train also for butting when you're both on the ground.

There. Happy butting.

We were taught that you dont hit with the fore head but with the top front of your head. Your forehead although looking cool in the movies is the largest collection on nerves in the body and will hurt like a @#$@. Grab the neck bend your knees and trust upwards while pulling down is one way to do a proper headbutt.
You can also come down with your head just make to look down. If you can see what your headbutting when you do it you will get hurt. You can aslo try the drunken monkey headbutt. This is for when you cannot reach their body and is done with a whipping motion making contact with the side of your head (the side of the scalp part of your head.) Good targets are the nose and the chin
For more on that pick up an old copy of Full contact with Thomas Cruse's article on Kali. It shows a poper jkd headbutt and was written when he was still VP of PFS. You can also pick of TC or Voos tapes on JKD. TC has a series with TRS caleld how be a streetfighter in 40 hrs and a pfs streetfighting series available from PFS video. Voo has too many great tape series to even name.

Cheers for the tips Thai Bri.

I hear what you're saying about the gob teeth do a good job of slicing the old bonce.
The 'burns' are from glancing when I come in at different angles & from getting carried away.

jkdcman

I've always butted with the forehead & found it effective.
I don't think you're right about the forehead having the largest collection of nerves, dropping your head so a jab goes into your forehead is a pretty good defence. But I could be wrong, perhaps I've taken too many bangs on me noggin.

I wasn't specific enough. I make contact with my head at about the hair line. So it is pretty high up. But not with the top of the head unless he is very tall1

Above the eyeline and about the hair line are pretty far apart. Either you missed that day in anatomy class or your hair line is getting a little too close to your eyebrows........

When I said top of the head i meant toward the front and you pull them down. But it sounds like we are describing the same thing. As for the forehead itsself how many people have just bumped heads with someone and it hurt. That is the forehead hitting and it sucks. At least for me anywho, if you can do it and not need help standing you are my hero. lol

Falcon - actually I do have quite a distance between my eye line and hair line. In fact I recently shaved my head totally (accidentally, like a knob) and my hair line was then as far back as the crevice of my bottom. So, in theory, I could actually head butt someone with my anus.

Now, from what I hear, you military boys are always head butting each other with your bot bots. It is, I understand, part of your extensive and super dooper training. Rather than "head butt" a lot of guys in the US Army talk about you giving head jobs. I know you're into covert operations and, as such, pretend not to have experience in these areas.........

Normally I would take offense to that but being that you never had the gonads to serve in the military I will let it slide this time. Don't feel bad though they break people like you and send them home crying to their momma.

Anyone can join the military. They don't exactly restrict themselves to the nations elite. Its more of a "can you walk and talk?" And if the answer is "not at the same time" you get to join. Officers have to do it both at once.

Apparently you don't know what talking in general is. I did not say you I said your type.....and I think I remember you saying on another post that you made it through like 2 weeks of airborne training. Most of the time they don't let someone do airborne training unless they are actually in the military.

If you read back to when this arguement started I was not bragging nor really talking about my service in the military, but trying to make a valid point that in the military hand to hand combat course there are elements of Judo and BJJ. I don't brag about me service in the military although I am proud of it. On the other hand I am the kind of person that does not let some washed up has been wanna be martial artist talk sh#t like he can come over and whip me. I am afraid that you are out trained, out gunned, and all around out matched so just give it up.
