    what is a straight blast?

Could you please tell me because I have no idea what it means but keep hearing people on this forum talk about it.

And are there other kinds of blast (other than a straight one)?

    straight blast

how many people do u know train or practice fighting while stumbling backwards ? a straight blast helps u get from kicking range right into trapping range.. it elimates punching range with no fear of gettin struck.. u basically sprint as fast as u can at your opponent throwing out punches to his face as if u were turning a small wheel or crank.

My latest technique series on my webpage is about the straight blast and the boxing blast. Maybe you want to take a look...

Well, I guess it depends on who you talk to. I like to turn on the SB right after a good solid hit from long or medium range and power down their centerline until either they fall down or we clinch. If we clinch I go into HKE mode.

Trying to start a SB from too far out or to use it as a device to close the distance leaves you open and vulnerable to a counter. A true counter to the SB is simple: they fall down or go back until they hit something (i.e. a wall, which usually lands the two of you in a clinch).

well, i won't use a SB if we are just squaring off and ready to go at it. I will make sure i get a hit on the dude, either eye jab or cupped hand to ear or somethin like that, i should of mentioned that earlier...

yeah, from what I've read, a SB is supposed to follow a good hit, to KEEP the guy off-balance.

It is often say and i belive it,you should inflict pain before throwing the SB.That's why a good leg kick, eye jab, throat shot or ear cup would do the job and distract him, thus giving you the opportunity of throwing your SB.
