    The Original Students of Lee

Who are they, how long did they study with Lee, how long did they study with Dan, who awarded them instructors in JKD?
The crap that many schools do is not the crap I was taught or train in or teach.

Damnit... it made sense when it was running through my head.

If they were Bruce's original students and Bruce along with Dan created JKD then it don't take much working out as to who gave them their instructor certificates

I guess it depends on which version of JKD (seattle, Oakland LA) Bruce, created the style with some influence from Dan and James Yim Lee and both later certified. Ithink that only Bruce would have certified the first group of students in Seattle. Although I personally find this confusing, Because I have a letter sent to another instructor that basically say yes train in a small non profit group to exchange ideas.......but do not call it JKD. Who knows it is the age old debate (and please I am not trying to revieve it)

Heres a link for the Oakland era. Its Greg Lees site, James Lees son. On the left you can click the links to view the 3rd. rank cert. that Bruce gave James in 1964 and theres a link for a list of Oakland JKD students. The list is lacking because they left out some names I'm guessing on purpose. But my Sifus father is there.

If you grab a copy of "Jeet Kune Do - The Art and Philosophy of Bruce Lee" by Guro Dan Inosanto, this book has a family tree of 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation instructors in JKD. The tree explains each person's lineage and background.

This book was published in 1980 at a time before all the politics crept in, and the instructor list was endorsed by all concerned, including Linda Lee.
