Default Eye attacks

Does anyone know the finger fan technique or any other finger attacks? If so, how do you train them? I use a small 5"x 6" sandbag that hangs at face level. I use it to toughen my finger tips and practice accuracy, while it swings. If anyone has a good link with a video of someone doing a finger strike technique thank would be nice. I cant train it sparring so I'd like to know the most effective ways to develop speed, accuracy, and power in the finger strikes.

Practice sparring with your partner. Use the jab instead of the finger in eye poke. In real self defense situation replace jab with extended fingers. There ya go.

a good way to safely practice eye gouges would be to do so while wearing eye protection. Go to yer local sports store and get some racket ball goggles. That way yer training with a real sense of distance.

There are several ways to perform finger attacks to the eye. Not all them are easy to explain without using visuals. The one I like the best is using the middle finger crossed with the first finger for support. Quickly jab the eye with a flick not too much power cuz’ if you miss Ouch!

Also another one I like is to use all the fingers. Keep them loose and again flick them at the eyes let them hit the bridge of the nose and allow them to separate and slide into the eyes. Again not to much power (flick) keep those fingers loose.

Also you can use the Spock hand (the Vulcan greeting, remember peace and prosper) any way the 1st and 2nd finger are together and support each other and the 3rd and pinky finger are together. The 2nd and 3rd fingers are separated to go on either side of the nose right into the eyes.

There are others but to they are to hard for me to explain.

Remember you don’t have to jam them in to the eyes with great force just getting them in there will most likely produce the results you want. If you try to hard and miss you’ll end up with broken fingers.

You can't risk breaking your fingers in a real fight. If you are going to jab, bend and curve the fingers slightly so the tips are all in a straight line, press the thumb against the fore-finger, and concentrate on squeezing the fingers together. Bring this line of fingers into the eye socket forcefully. You can't do it with a fully straight arm, this is a close in move. Holding your fingers out straight will risk them a little too much.

I'm with Thai on this one, I do not like nor with will I ever advocate the 'Spock hand'. I also aim for the top of the cheek bone right under the eye and the fingers will glide right into the socket.

Yes when using finger strikes always keep fingers slightly bent or curled at the end as bri says.

Finger strike are dangerous to use, the risk to injuring your fingers is high. Best done in a grappling/clinch or otherwise in close situation.

An alternative to this is to use a rake like a kenpo tiger claw. Instead of eye jabbing you can use a downward motion raking the face and the eyes. Again fingers bent

I like that last one the best. Another good one is to place your middle finger over your index and ring digits. Squeeze your fingers togethr and dart quickly in jabbing or flicking horizontally at the eyes/bridge of nose. Your fingers don't have a great chance of breaking do to the ridgidity, but you sacrifce the relaxed speed of Drew's open handed flick. It is also improbable that you will get hurt snapping your open fingers against someone's face.

By the way...on the last post. A little known fact, Obe Wan was a Jeet Kune Do Jedi. Just thought I'd share that.

I wonder how many hapless schlemiels have been put through a wall while trying to scratch at someone's eyes while that someone was busy kicking their ass?

None.

Theoretical fighting is like a role playing game.

"Ok, now pause that fist out there for 3 sec when you punch so the counter can do his eye jab, plum palm to the groin and finish with a 360 degree jump spin kick"
