Thanks for keeping this forum going! I will give you my routine for last week.
Monday: AM 30 minutes cardio, then lifting for shoulders, biceps, triceps, then some stretching.
PM Get with three partners and train gi Jiu-Jitsu for 2 hours, adding in some striking related manuevers.

Tuesday: AM 30 minute calisthenic routine for warm-up, then 1 hour drilling no-gi submission wrestling techniques, then 30 minutes sparring. Class is run by Charuto Varissimo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blackbelt on Nova Uniao team.
PM Teach 2 classes from 7:15 to 9:30

Wednesday: AM 30 minutes cardio, then lifting for legs. (Squats, extensions, curls, calf-raises)
2 PM Train a student for 1 hour. Kickboxing, clinch, sticks. I get in some training too. 3:30-5:00 Gi training with partners.

Thursday: 10 AM Train clinch and ground techniques 25 minutes with Egan Inoue, spar with him for 35 minutes. 11:30 Help train Egan for his upcoming fight. Take turns with Charuto and BJ Penn (Current blackbelt world champion) ground sparring with Egan. We take turns so he never rests, and we are always fresh.
PM Group classes.

Friday: Watching tapes of NHB fights and various tournaments. Rest day!

Saturday: AM 30 minutes cardio, lift for chest, back, traps, and neck. Stretch.
PM Train student for one hour, getting in training myself for kickboxing, clinch, weapons.

Sunday: Shadowboxing, sometimes get together with a friend to drill.

That is pretty typical, but I do spend time hitting the heavy bag a few times per week, and I also schedule time for boxing, kickboxing, and weaponry sparring.

Any questions?

burton,

i know egan is training for mezger. so what type of ground sparring are you doing with him? what do you see the difference in rounds you do with egan compared to b.j. and chura? how is their style of fighting different from yours?

thanks again,
ironchef

Egan is spending extra rounds working on keeping his opponent on the ground, and Egan is practicing getting off of his back should he end up there. Simple, but the training is very rigorous, of course. This is a good example of how someone who is a world-class level grappler is not working on lots of new tricks. Instead, he is working on continually refining those things that he has practiced since his first month of grappling.
Egan is working on some new tricks, of course, but these are secondary to the basics.
Comparing my tactics to the other guys, first off, they are all a lot more skillful on the ground than I am. I can make them work, but they are definitely better! We all use the same types of passes, hold downs, and escapes, but we may set up our maneuvers differently, and in a different sequence.
Enjoy!
