am an ex-runner just recovering from some hospital time. thinking will kickbox train for resistance and flexibility. self-defense not really a consideration. to extent does, suits build (slight) and temperment. have found gym that liked, planned on starting within the week.
do have opportunity though to practice with a v well respected jkd'er. curious - recognizing less interested in application than conditioning, and not interested in grappling - should take advantage of opportunity anyway to train with someone so regarded? how jkd view beginning students - prefer ma background? maybe condition/kickbox train before jkd? appreciate any consideration. again, not so interested in self-defense but recognize how encouraging a real inspirational coach can be. thanks |

Know what your goals are, then choose the training that moves you towards your goals. By the way, grappling is an incredible conditioning workout! You should give it a try.
