Question Strong Side Forward?

HI EVERYONE.
I JUST RECENTLY JOINED JKDU, SO I'M STILL TRYING TO BECOME MORE FAMILIAR WITH SOME OF THE IDEOLOGIES OF THE ORGANIZATION. ANYWAY JUSY HAD A QUICK QUESTION ON WHETHER JKDU PROMOTES STRONG SIDE FROWARD OR THE TRADITIONAL BOXING STANCE. FOR THE RECORD I FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE IN THE TRADITIONAL BOXING STANCE, BUT JUST CURIOUS WHAT EVERYONE ELSE THINKS.
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME
WINDYCITY

Hi,

since no one seems to be around, I'll tell you my opinion for what it's worth. Both! One main idea in JKD is contsant pressure. you should be able to switch leads without knowing it. I also think stick fighting only out of one lead is not so good..

My reason is this. If you are going to get in a ring or cage with someone, then maybe get REALLY good with one lead. But in life, not many fights will start with you in Bai Jhong! So the ability to move naturaly and get power speed and coordination on both sides is more important. As for stick fighting, do you often met talented people with sticks in your life Is it something that comes up allot? LOL! Not for me In fact, if I am ever in a situation where I have a stick and have to defend myself, then how even more rare will it be that the guy attacking me has a stick?

So for stick work, most of us use it to build empty hand skills (and with the JKDU stick fighting program, if we ever really need it we have a solid simple program) so if you are training for emptyhand skills train both hands. Also you may lose a stick in one hand then what? Also siniwalli will never be functional at a HIGH level unless you train your weak hand allot.

So both!

But thats just my opinion and is not a JKDU offical point of view or anything.
