    Kajukenbo Black Belt fight

Apparently here's the story... a friend of mine has a co-worker who plods about and around like he's the cock of the walk, and makes comments about how much of a badass he is. He postures and essentially bullies (although not overt or physical) several of his colleagues, and has vocalized on a number of occassions how he can "kick everyone's ass."
The guy is a self proclaimed kajukenbo blackbelt, is slight in frame (skinny and lurpy) and not particularilly threatening in stature.

My friend, a rather skinny kid but tenacious kid...who doesn't take kindly to this type of thing, took this kid up on some sort of a challenge...from what I can understand, some sort of fight A WEEK or so from now with MMA type rules...I really don't know the particulars.

Now, I don't support duels or contests like this necessarilly, but looking to back my friend up, agreed to help train him and show him some simple things, and be something of a second or a corner to him...

My background is Boxing, Muay Thai, Jun Fan Gung Fu, and Kali...and a tiny bit of Grappling (CSW and BJJ)...I am also taking some TKD and Kenpo classes right now for school and to have a better understanding of other arts. I also have a friend who is a fairly decent BJJ player who can help assist me a little bit with that aspect of my friend's training.

Really what I want to know is what can I expect from the opposition, and what to focus on in order to cripple the Kajukenbo game plan. (I don't know alot about the art, but natural instinct for any fight would be about teaching some basic boxing, clinch knees and elbows, the thai style cut kick, a few throws, a few escapes from the mount, a few chokes, and maybe an armbar, a triangle, and a few keylocks)

(certainly this guy is misrepresenting your art...and from all accounts needs a slight lesson in humility and propriety)

I know a week is a short period of time, but I know I can impart some functional fundamentals by then, I just really need to trim the fat if my buddy has any chance...

    Thank you.
    I intend to film this...

Pretty much most of the arts you mentioned make up kajukenbo. They mix in a little dirty street fight, nut shot, type moves.

It was developed in Hawaii originally but got watered down and brought to CA.

Basically they fight MMA style mostly, but they claim to "adapt anything from any style" into their mix.

Stay of center line. Fast strikes and short kicks and knees.

Yup It's taught as part of the JKDC stuff around here.

so basically you are going to be training him to go up against JKD.

Strange, it wasn't part of the JKDC I am familiar with...
I figured if it was like the Kenpo I've seen, he'd have a very good chance, maybe I should urge him to take this as a serious threat.

Oh well, failure's not an option. (I told him if he loses, I'm going to kick his ass...lol)

Let's all say a little prayer for my friend that this guy is simply claiming to know what he's doing...but doesn't know anything...which I highly suspect may be the case. If not, I'm on the nursing track, so I get practice that way too. Win-win for me, really.

garland kajukenbo stylists are very good counter fighters. they like to wait until you try to hit them then they attack of course not letting you do anything. if he really is a kajukenbo blackbelt your buddy will have a hard time assuming he has no experience. also the are fairly decent at joint manipulations if it is real kajukenbo due to the jujutsu and lua that is in the system. teach him alot of feints they fall for those often as like i said they tend to attack while you are attacking. tell him also to stay tight because they like to attack the limbs and like kotf said center line. cant go wrong there. i say show him the fight with vitor and wanderlei tell him to do that. press him dont let him breath no space between them.

    This is some excellent advice.

There was a show called "Fight Quest". They meet the people who brought the art over here.

Might be a good study. They go over the basics of the art, and have a few sparring matches.

Last night I had him work on clinch knees, worked a little bit on basic boxing mechanics and the thai kick...and gave him a few good feints.

The guy is quite a bit taller...so I figured have my buddy throw a heavy right thai kick...gauge the guys reaction and see where he's at...feign another, and then come in with a big ass left hook and straight away to clinch knees.
I showed him the uchi mata (sp?) throw from judo as well as a double leg takedown...but told him to try uchi mata from the clinch.

I also showed him an out-the-backdoor escape from full-mount (just in case), an escape from side control, and how to get into side control from the mount and do a kimura...

I showed him the guillotine in case the guy shoots in on him, and I showed him the rear naked choke in case the guy gives up his back.

These are what I will drill into him over our very, verly limited training time this week...

plus I have a pair of really CUTE pink thai shorts with bows on them that I bought for my girlfriend (failed attempt there to get her interested in training) that I am going to force him to wear at the fight.

first if you get beat buy a guy in pink your a bitch. yes kimbo thats you. also in the clinch have him stand up as straight as possible step behind one leg and twist the neck, thisd is found in lethwei it works trust me. also have him throw knees and hooks at the same time in close ie right knee left hook same time this also works. he should do fine but train him well and let him rest before the fight.

    1) that's exactly what I had in mind...in any case, it's all for my own sick amusement. The Kajukenbo guy is going to look like a punk, or my friend like Nong Toom...or both.

    2) meh...I've only got a few days...so he's going to be horrible...but I think he can beat THIS guy. And he can rest when he's dead...and the day of the fight. (I'm going to make him jog for about a bit the day of in the morning and jump rope for 10 minutes, and do pad drills lightly before the fight..it'll warm him up a bit...but other than that, I'll leave him alone.)

Anyone catch that show on MTV called BULLY BEAT DOWN?

    LOL It's a riot.

"In all countries where personal freedom is valued, however much each individual may rely on legal redress, the right of each to carry arms - and these the best and the sharpest - for his own protection in case of extremity, is a right of nature indelible and irrepressible, and the more it is sought to be repressed the more it will recur."

i love that show. some friends of mine and myself all wanted to call it in on eachother to make some quick cash but couldn't decide which of us would be the bully since we all are pretty bully capable. im more of an asshole than they are but we figured they would never pick us to be on there anyways. i think they stick to their local area kind of like how they never left california on pimp my ride.

...so the original place and date got set back, and then the guy tried to call my buddy on with a 3 hour notice and my friend told him to reschedule...

and now they're both being tremendous pussies.
I am still harping on him though. I'm still trying to get it in the works.
Funny how I always end up being the bad guy or the instigator when other people lose their testes. Oh well, somebody has to be if anything fun is to ever happen.
