I'm sure he'd wipe the floor with me too. But he would do so with his Thai Boxing.

Actually, Damian. What grappling have you done?

I think that using a damp cloth would be easier.

Bloody hell, I wasn't bragging you ego freaks. heh, when I say I could easily beat some Thai boxers using straight TKD techniques I was trying to point out that it has nothing to do with the art if one fighter is better than the other. Some Thai boxers would have me for breakfast, not because they are Thai boxers, but because they are REALLY GOOD Thai boxers, being a thai boxer alone is not good enough to make you a street fighter, you need skill!

To think that all you need is a little training in Muay Thai and you can defeat everyone else no matter how tough or good they are because of your art is stupid and ridiculous. That was my point... sheesh.

ThaiBri: I've done Gracie Jujitsu (never officially trained long enough to get out of white belt heh and now that I moved to Thailand I don't think I ever will), wrestling, submission grappling and messed around in a mma format... but I have yet to commit and apply myself to a grappling art like I have my striking arts. I keep meaning to but I really like hitting things and put all my available training time these days into striking. I might go train at Pedro's school in Chang Mai, he has grappling and MMA training and is supposed to be a great teacher. So much going on here I have no clue if I'll be able to do all the things I want to do!

Damian is correct. Too many people put the emphasis on the art. The training methods are what make the difference. You can take TKD techniques and apply correct training methods and have something real dangerous. There are plenty of perfectly acceptable techniques in TKD. Everything you see in thai boxing you can see in some TKD techniques. It may have a different flavor, but they have those techniques just the same.

You're right... truth is I've been wanting to change my last name for years... I keep meaning to take my wifes last name when I marry but I never seem to get married! Other than it being silly sounding it's not my blood name and I don't like the people it comes from.

I think we should organise a competition to get Damien a new name. Here's my entry - Damien Doreen.
