i very rarely keep up with the politics of Taekwon do but does anyone know what has happened with the founders son being expelled from the ITF?
is it also true that general choi's son once attempted to assasinate the president of one of the korean countries?

I found that gtf is merging with itf? /shrug my instructor refuses to join those association. I don't blame him either. Itf is a mess right now. The wife of the dude that died doesn't know tkd and is running the show. I dunno about the politics that you have mentioned. I don't follow history or politics of tkd. Waste of time for me.

Mrs. Choi is respected as the wife of Gen. Choi and the mother of Choi Jung Hwa, but she is not running "the show".
I am unaware of any merger between the GTF and the ITF (although realistic)...there are currently (3) ITFs claiming power! Very difficult situation, especially if you are new to ITF TKD politics. As relates to Choi Jung Hwa (the founders son) you speak of "old news" some of which has been played out for over a decade!
These issues are almost impossible to bring back to life do to so many slanderous comments and it is to say the least a touchy subject!
If this is very important to you then I would recommend you search the archives...also try karateforums (give my name Spookey as your reference
the info you will receive will be as all else propoganda (some factual /some fabricated)...please contact posters (including myself) personally for a better responce to questions regarding this topic! Wow, guys (not Spookey) aren't you embarassed being mindless mouths that just spout the propaganda your uninformed and retarded instructors give to you?

Sorry for being so harsh but I really doubt the intelligence of people that say things when they are just guessing or making it up.

I'll give you the short version:

-Master Choi was voted in as the next President to take over the ITF from his father
-The North Koreans approached Master Choi and told him he better do as he was told, his answer was basically "go to hell"
-next thing we know Master Choi is illegally removed from that position since he won't play ball with North Korea (the North Koreans were working closely with General Choi)
-Master Choi forms the ITF with any that know that ITF was headed straight into North Koreas hands and want nothing to do with that
-the rest of ITF swears we are all traitors spouting propaganda and that General Choi would NEVER hand over ITF to North Korea and we are all lying
-General Choi dies and of course hands over the ITF to North Korea like we said would happen
-some stick with North Korea but many (that called us liars) break off because they too want nothing to do with an evil regime like North Korea, only they did it the sneaky way instead of standing up to General Choi while he was alive
-so now there are 3 ITF's, one headed by Master Choi, one By Tran Quan and one by Chang Un (the North Korean group). In none of these groups is the wife of General Choi in any position of any kind of influence.

GTF may be merging with ONE of the 3 ITF's, who knows. All kinds of crazy things are happening. But I have heard nothing.

Master Choi did not attempt to assassinate anyone personally. He was wanted for questioning in regards to working with terrorists that would try it. Master Choi was covering for someone "higher up" and landed up doing a couple of years time in prison.

Just heard bits in pieces of what my instructor was talking about. I honestly don't care we are not hooked up with any of those ppl. Thx, for correcting me though.
