Yes. but unfortunately is depaends on a few factors namely, how hard you train and the type of instructor you have. Some of the HKD dojangs I have seen are really TKD but the instrcutor has learned a few locks and advertises HKD.

Jeet Kune Do is concept either
Bruce Lee Actually revised all the martial arts that he learned..... jet kun do is a style, one of the reasons why i learn it Way of the Intercepting Punch just ask your jkd instructor for your pleasure Note: i have a book of Jeet Kune Do, black book of bruce lee...... it is a very hard to understand jkd if you have no background in kungfu

I know this is off topic so Please No FLame....just stating this for sherwinc. IMHO JKD is a concept. Here is the part that gets miscontrued, there were techniques of JKD, Bruce modified what he learned from WC and added some techniques. What he showed his students was not the most effective fighting system created, it was a basis to develop the concept. He showed his students what he was learning and developing. In order to understand the concept he knew there had to be demonstarte. The JKD from Seattle, Oakland and LA was Bruce's JKD not everyone's. The goal was for people to go in thier own direction which is why he wanted Guro Inosanto to focus on FMA, his native arts. JKD was always just a name just to call it something. The problem is that people make money from the name JKD when the name JKD should noot be used if people truly respected Bruce. my $.02

and yes i have the book as well it's called "the tao of jeet kune do" and no, it is not hard to understand apparently u do no get what jkd was meant to be. why would the book be hard to get if jkd was meant to be simple? hmm? i think kung fu practitioners are just trying to cash in on bruces thoughts by saying he was really doing kung fu. but all non-kung fu know he wasn't and no, jkd is not a style nowadays it is taught in some places as a style, but shouldn't be. so if that's the way you are "learning" it, then find a new school. i did yang style tai chi for a while, so i did kung fu, but not like the way u are thinking. i think u really need to check into what you are doing and ask yourself, "is what im doing going to help me save my life when the time comes?" and if ur not being ignorant, you will say the correct answer oh and sorry for spamming in your thread friend, but unfortunately i don't know a whole lot about hapkido other than it's korean, emphasis on locks and kicks. and is a pretty good art. other then that sorry

Honestly man, your better off learning how to Box, with some study in basic Brazilian Jui jitsu or at least its escaping techniques. Oh and it never hurts to dable in Muay Thai, although generally you don't get to dable a good school will train you hard.
good luck |
