Its not uncommon for Tang Soo fighters to compete in American style kickboxing (punches, kicks above the waste) or in open-style karate tournaments (no head punching, but kicks to head/body, body punching and sweeps).

Yeah! Good old ramus! I Christened him Ramus the Anus once as I remember.
It was "XXX art is best", followed by "What do you think of XXX" and closed with a predictable "I have been training in XXX for a week....". Then, of course, there was a new art every week! Nice lad though. Unlike studiobuggered. |

No, I don't have any clips, but I can tell you little about it. Tang Soo Do is very similar to TKD, some say the Tang Soo Do masters refused to join up with the TKD back in the day to keep their art pure. they do things a little bit differently, but not a whole lot. The school that I went to was very physical.
So tell me Studio, are you still searching for that ultimate martial art that's going to change everything?? |

i might be a bit out of line but I think you should just join a boxing or kickboxing gym, and maybe some bjj or other grappling. It will get you results real fast because they are usually more to the point than TMAs. Dont get me wrong TMAs arent all that bad, but they usually spend more time doing pre arranged sparring and katas, which dont really jump your progress.

Studiobuddy, here is some one you can contact who may be able to help you. Master Dominic Giacobbe who was Black Belt Magazine Man of the Year in 2000. He runs a dojang in South Jersey. Website is www.tangsookarate.com. Good luck. Let me know if you are able to get any of the information you seek.
