Default Original Patterns of Taekwon-Do!

Dear All,

I am wishing to hear the varying opinions regarding the original patterns of Taekwon-Do.

Please answer the pole question then lend your opinion to the thread regarding which pattern set you believe to be the original pattern set of Taekwon-Do. Also, please allow the readers to better understand your point of view by giving the reasoning which allowed you to form your opinion!

Lets have a good clean debate (and try to stay on topic)...Ding Ding!

Well, I was unable to delete the thread and didnt properly insert the poll. So, please allow enough information in your posts to allow others to know which pattern set you believe to be the "Original Pattern Set of TKD"!

TAEKWON!

well, I don't think you can do what you describe. TKD is really just part of a continueum of martial arts from ancient times to today. The schools that were all brought together to form TKD were doing different forms. The original forms might be the karate forms or maybie Choi's forms or who knows what depending on when you determine TKD was established. I think it is much too fluid to give a hard and fast answer.

hey mate, our pattern r as followed
Rank Grade (Kup) Pattern (Hyung) Phonetic Pronunciation
Yellow Tip 9th Chong-Ji Chong Gee
Yellow Belt 8th Tan-Gun Tan Gun
Green Tip 7th To-San Toe San
Green Belt 6th Won-Hyo One Yo
Blue Tip 5th Yul-Gok Yool Cock
Blue Belt 4th Chung-Gun Chung Gun
Brown Tip 3rd Toi-Gye Toy Gay
Brown Belt 2nd Hwa-Rang Hi Rang
Black Tip 1st Chung-Mu Chung Moo
i pretty sure these r the original patterns coz our master instructor is 1 of general choi's first black belts. Master Chong Chul Rhee. and he hasnt changed anything. hes kept everything traditional. no competition just self defence.

Your master may claim to have the original patterns set by gerneral choi, However you skiped the lesson on spelling them right, according to the ITF(the organition that gerneral choi's son is a part of) that is.

However you skiped the lesson on spelling them right,
Spelling is determined by how the names are pronounced. I've come across variations of that.
