Default Training

Hello, my name is Ian Hunter and I am currently a red belt in ITF taekwondo. I was curious if anyone can give me a good workout for speed. I am getting ready to test for my black belt in 7 months, so I wanted to make sure I'm fast enough when I test. My strength is good enough already and I already have a weight lifting program, so I just wanted to see what you all do. thanks

Look into plyometrics. Specifically, look at drills designed for sprinters, basketball players, and football players (especially receivers). A google search on the topic will likely yield more results than responese here. You can also search the forum (I seem to remember several good posts in the boxing forum months back) about plyometrics and developing speed. Even though you may have trouble drawing the connection with sprinters' drills and TKD, trust me - they'll help!

Good Luck,
Mike
