What's with all the "which art is better/what should I do?" posts? Go to www.google.com and do some research.

10 minutes away sounds pretty good. You should train somewhere close. That will you will end up going a lot more often.

I didn't think Hapkido and Tae Kwon do were very much alike. Maybe I'm wrong.

Do they teach Hapkido and TKD seperate or have they tried to mix them?

Schools that teach both usually teach bad hapkido, which is TKD+bad wrist locks.

I had a good time training with my hapkido instructor in Singapore, but then again he had a background in JKD, MT, and Wing Chun, so we weren't doing 100% traditional hapkido.

MT with bad wrist locks?

I like wrist locks for when a friend or co-worker says "You do martial arts? Show me something!"

there is not much TKD in Hapiko at all. Hapkido is a very dangerous art and TKD is wimpy.

Anything which is full contact and alive (competition TKD, boxing, jiu jitsu, kickboxing, wrestling, judo) is much better than any so called self defence system.

Exponents of the so called purely self defence martial arts get trashed in fights against fighters in the above combat sports.

Always choose a combat sport over a 'self defense' 'martial art' or 'system'.

You can either listen to me now, or you can go and waste a couple of years and then come to the same conclusion, i.e. find out the hard way.
