Default Height Advantage??

Just a wonder, how do you go around fighting somebody who is taller than yourself, is there a way of overcoming the reach advantage and what is the general approach to a fight with someone way taller than yourself??

well, is this in TKD sparring or what?

For all around fight, get on the inside, then pound with body shots then a few face shots.

For TKD, sidestep a kick then move towards them a bit then have at it.

Our school allows the "clash" or knee block...a lot of schools don't probably fearing shin weenies or something.

Step in to clash his kick on the inside, then toss the other leg's roundhouse as you see fit in whatever variety works for you. Quick score.

If point match, then back out.

Of course, then he may begin to fake you out by faking a kick, you whiff the clash, and he converts the roundhouse into say a quick side kick.

I had this problem at the British open this year, my first competition. I'm about 6 foot tall, the other guys in my weight/belt class were 6 foot 3 or 4, so what I did was make them bring their guard down low by throwing a few kicks out, and then went for a punch to the head.

Simple stuff, I came (a very close, no really) 3rd (got me a nice trophy for it!)
