There is a system of kickboxing in Korea known as Kyuk Too Ki. It's very rare in the United States at this time but I've heard that it's catching on in Europe. I've seen clips of the training. It looks almost exactly like standard Muay Thai training but they incorporate all of the kicking techniques of TKD as well as throwing and grappling techniques. I even read somewhere, although I can't remember where, that it is sometimes referred to as Professional Taekwondo.

That aside, I know a lot of people, myself included, who have been able to blend TKD and MT quite effectively. Strictly speaking, both arts use all of the same tools... with the exception of TKD wide array of kicks. The main difference is the training methods.

You are misinformed. Kyuk Too Ki isn't a style. It simply means "mixed martial arts" in Korean.

I'm Korean. Take my word for it.

Well then, apparently there are a lot of people out there who are misinformed about it, including several high ranking TKD masters who claim to hold high level black belt ranks in Kyuk To Ki as well.

The term itself may translate as "Mixed Martial Arts" but everything about it that I've seen or read or heard, including a couple of friends I've had in the past who trained at Kyuk Too Ki Gyms in Korea say that it is a Korean Kickboxing system, although a relatively new one.

If you are correct, then I am happy. Good for my country. However, I am still a bit skeptical. When I looked up "Kyuk Tu Ki" in Korean on a Korean search engine to look for some organizations, official federations and such, I was only able to come up with websites like sherdog.com which is an english site for mixed martial art fight records and fighter profiles.

If you could give me some hard evidence for me to look at, that'd be much appreciated.

I believe there is also a gentleman by the name of Master Sang living in Florida who teaches a combination of Muay thai and Taekwondo. He refers to it as TNT (God knows what it stands for). From what I've read about him, I gather that he is a high ranked TKD master as well as a student of Master Toddy, a well known Muay Thai master, living in Las Vegas, Nevada.

From personal experience I can say that the two systems work very well together when combined. The raw power and conditioning methods of muay thai generally throw off most TKD people while the versatility of the TKD kicking methods generally surprise most muay thai practitioners.
