Tools, yes, different martial arts give you different tools. Therefore, I define good and bad martial arts by what tools does/doesn't it give you. If a martial art give you many useful tools/moves, that's a good martial art style. However, if a style only teaches crappy moves/techinques (useless tools) and have bs theories about fighting, sorry, that crappy martial art will never make you a fighter even you train so hard because it can never put you on the right track.

What about people who don't train, but are good fighters? I mean like thugs and street fighters. I'm sure there are many thugs out there who could take most people on this forum (including me obviously). Its about the person and the mindset more than it is about the tools you are given. The give a man a fish/teach a man to fish thing is relevant here, in a way, because you could have all of the tools in the world, but if you don't have practice using them, or understand when and why to use them, you may aswell have no tools at all.

Oh by the way Mastah. If you want to continue TKD then do so. If you want to stop an change, then do so. Its up to you. You have to discover if it is effective for yourself. No one can honestly tell you that.

Of course, train hard can sharpen your tools, but no matter how hard you sharpen a little piece of rubber, it is still a little piece of rubber which can't hurt anyone. Good street fighters, I think because they have a good understanding of what street fight is about. According to what I mentioned, a martail art style which has some bs theories about fighting is crappy.

Totally disagree, you train someone for 30 years 8 hours a day, put them up against a 'bloke who finks he iz ard' and he would murder them, mindsets are very important but eventually training is everything.

If a person train only katas for 30 years 8 hours a day, but never train any full contact sparring regularly, I am quite sure he will still got beaten up by a non skilled street fighter.

That worked back in the old days. Hardballs signature even said it i dunno if it still has it, The most dangerous man in old Japan practiced the same kata every day. Something along those lines.

I agree.... it doesn't matter what you train as long as you train your heart out.
