When Christmas and New Year arrives there are basically no MA lessons in my town. I have spent most of the 3 weeks eating nothing but laxative-like party food, replacing my blood with boozer and sleeping it all off. The actual training that i have done amounts to about 5 minutes in total, if that, i've had little exerise and my diet has been awful.
Its my first lesson back of the new year and quite honestly i feel dreadful; my eyes are heavy, my stomach is unsettled, my head feels stuffy and my body is drained. This got me thinking about how essential Martial arts has become in my life and how much better it has made me feel. Just two weeks has made me devolve into an obsolute state. Is anyone else feeling these exact same effects and concequently realising how important MA is to them?

I realise that when I stop training because it just isn't the same. However, I don't drink and I try to sleep alot. I try to stay on a diet but hell you know its quite hard :P
But still its just part of my routine to train and it just feels wierd to stop for a day or two. Right now I have to stop training completely till 17th of Jan because I have exams starting 10th.

You and me both man, the last couple of weeks have been full of pasta, cookies, cake, pie, beer and whiskey for me with only one decent work out This week I've been getting back on the ball, but it's frustrating because things that used to be easy for me are hard again. I know it won't take me long to get back on top but it def. serves as a reminder of how important my practice is to me. It sucks when you start to lose abilities that you worked hard to get. It feels good to be training again though. Of course next year I'll promise myself that I won't eat too many treats and stay in practice, and of course I'll wind up doing it all over again ![]()

You need to study up on Solo training and building a home dojo. Let know if you want it; I have some bibliographies I can post.

Me too, I'm always looking for new ideas. Of course, for the most part right now I just need to put down the beer bottle and step away from the cheese cake I'm excited; I got a chin up bar for Christmas and UPS should be bringing it any day now. With a little luck I'll be able to put it up this weekend ![]()

Wow guys...I'm dissappointed. I was out jogging on christmas. Just cause youre on a break from work or school doesent mean its time to relax. "Train more than you sleep." Sure I dont do that but its a good goal. I do all my free weight training at home (when not working with wrestlers) 5 days a week.
