I always like a good axe kick to the head for 2 points ... but every fight is different you have to watch your partener and see where he leaves him or her self open ... Our head instructor really drills turning kick back kick combos for sparring and it works really well ...

What works well are:
front leg combos, front arm, back arm, back leg, maybe something fancy. The front leg might not have that much power, but it is very quick and less detectable then a back leg kick. and never do one technique and stop...always do multiples. And another point: when you practice kicks in class, on the bag or target, make sure you set it in front of you before you step back. it is a hard thing to do, but it gets your body used to the forward instead of automatic retreat.
