i just wanted to introduce myself. I live in Orlando FL and started taking Taekwondo about six months ago.
Sometimes I think I should of started many many years ago. I love it, but I always have something hurting, knees, back. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any knee strengthening exercises?. Thanks. |

I injured my knee quite badly riot training back in 87. Yes, I am that old. I was too young, stupid and lazy to get it treated, and it could go "twang!" at any time.
In the last couple of years I have added the "Squat" exercise to my weight training programme. I have the weight on my back and only go down as far as it takes for my thighs to be parallel to the floor. My knees feel better than they have ever done since the injury. I started off really light, just using the bar on its own to get the feel of the exercise, but can now Squat my own rather substantial portly body weight with no problem. Good luck. |

Squat can be good, I have been able to squat 300 ever since I was about 16. At that time I weighed in around 140. It is a very useful exercise but you need to know what caused the pain before you start trying to do it. If your knee is not stabile then it could lead to further injury.
