Hey guys
Lately Ive noticed a problem with my defences. In the dojo, I have no problem with my defence drills and counter attacks because I know they are coming. Outside the dojo if somebody does a shirt grab(for example) it will take me 3+ seconds to react. I find this unacceptable. If somebody takes a swing at me or worse, Im probobly going to catch it with my face. I just cant get it to kick in on time. As for awareness, If Im in a bad area or get the gut feeling I instantly start paying more attenton to whats going on around me. I used to be ALWAYS ready for an attack and my reactions were great. Within the last few years nothing (seriosuly) has given me a rush or caused my adrenaline to kick in. I think this might play part in my problems. Years ago I would freeze up and panic during stressful or dangerous situations and now I think Im a little too calm! How can I get back in shape mentally? Its almost like Im all the time.Any advice, thoughts or tips would be appreciated. |
