Exclamation Your will to kill

Legalities aside.

How many of us have the will to kill in a fight? I don't mean murder, I mean reaching the realization that :

Quote:
"If I don't kill him he won't stop and eventually kill me."
Your religion is not in question here. Can you kill and walk away with a clean conscience? Feeling slightly disturbed is natural you are still entitled to it.

After some brushes with death in the street, I seem to have reached that point. I'm not declaring that I'm the best, just that if you hurt me I'll fight back and if you don't stop I'd have to kill you eventually.

No trolling please.

None yet. But in my last encounter I had the clarity of thought that if he didn't stop I knew I would have to and I would have to immediate remorse.

My thought processes are different now, way different.

Much agreed, jubaji. And for shuyun, there's nothing glorious or fancy about killing somebody trust me. Be glad you don't have to make that choice.

Eh, well...if one of us had to die, I'd follow the path of self-preservation.

I think it was Patton that said this quote:

"Men, it's not your job to die for your country....it's to make the other sons of bitches die for theirs."

I'm asking you.

Does it make me more credible if I actually did kill someone?

All I said was I think I can cross the line when the need arises. What is so pretentious about that? Does it raise a martial artist to a higher level if he can? I'm not making a claim, nor am I bragging, (what's to brag about it? have i challenged anyone?) I'm simply asking a question. What do YOU think about killing EVEN OUT OF NECESSITY?

To some people it's not that easy, some even with the upper hand in a fight would plead with their assailant to stop because the attacker could get killed, and after winning feels so messed up and discontinue training.

How much can one take until his suppressed conscience starts nagging. How do you stop it from nagging?

Now if this could proceed as a reasonable thread that I thought would be participated in by reasonable people could we proceed with the discussion?

If it came down to it, I think I could do it. That would be my absolute last choice.

Considering the fact that I still have nightmares from time to time about the dead and dying that I've seen, I think killing someone with my bare hands would have a devastating effect on my psyche. I pray it is a decision that I never have to make. . . .

You are a comic book boy poser mouthing off based on nothing but your fantasies about yourself. All of which makes light of something that is very real and very serious.
