    Minor BJJ injuries

I have been doing BJJ for about 3 or 4 weeks now. Every time I get back from class I have all sorts of small injuries. Nothing to really worry about, just annoying. I usually have lots of small bruises on my upper bicep. my forarms have little circles of skin ripped off from the mat. The same thing happens to my forhead sometimes. My neck gets prett sore from rubbing against other peoples gi's. Tonight my nose was bleeding some. We where doing triangles and my arm would sometimes crush my nose. Those mats can burn pretty bad. Ive got a nasty burn on my hip from practicing some sweeps. I think I might start wearing my mouthgaurd when we grapple and not just when we punch because today I got hit in the mouth. Do you guys have the same experiences? All these little scratches and bruises can just get a little bit annoying.

    -Mike

    That's par for the course.

Pain is just weakness leaving the body. Blood is just more sweat.

There's a difference between something hurting, and something being damaged. It's good to hurt, but not good to be damaged (ala a torn rotator cuff).

    That's how BJJ is though.

Stop whingeing like a bat. These are LITTLE things. Wait till you're being beaten half to death in a real fight. Then you'll kinow what pain is, and you'll find out if you can carry on and win. But it isn't going to look good if you carry on like this.

You can always take up chess.

You will tend to get fewer of these little injuries as time goes on. Your neck and body will get less sore, you learn to protect your fingers and toes, etc. The bicep bruises you get to keep though, so might as well get to like them.

    injuries

A mouth guard is a great idea. Some classes make it manditory. Also groin protection is a must. Like they said, you get used to some of it. Bruising is something that you have to deal with. Good Luck.

Yeah, we only have to wear a mouth guard on fridays when we do vale tudo. Most of the people dont wear a cup, including myself. I have had some close calls though, and I did see someone get hit there yesterday, so I guess I should start wearing a cup too.

No, when someone whinges, they are whingeing. They are only whining when they whine. Get it? And no, I did not wish to say "Baby want a bottle", I meant to say "Baby want a drink". Thats why I wrote "Baby want a drink".

    See?

Now stop whingeing about Jack Shit and get your sorry ass onto the mat.

ps - When I said "Now stop whingeing about Jack Shit and get your sorry ass onto the mat" I actually meant to say "Now stop whingeing about Jack Shit and get your sorry ass onto the mat."

You're dumb as well as mard.

    Have a nice day now!
