There is no Silat training that I know of in Manitoba. The best stand up school in Winnipeg is Volpato's Mixed Martial Arts. They are extremely hard core. I have been kickboxing and have 3 first degree BB and I find their fighters amazing!!!
Mixed Martial Arts, Thaiboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Combat Submission Wrestling, Jeet Kune Do, Women's Self-Defense, Boxing and Filipino Martial Arts
i've been doing some reasearch, and although i've gained some experience in Tae Kwon Do, and KickBoxing, I think that something a little more disciplined is in order for me.
However, I am having difficulty locating a Silat (of any origin) which is taught in Winnipeg, MB.
As this is my location, i would prefer not to travel for training.
Is there anyone who knows of a Silat dojo in winnipeg in which i might train?
thanx, Borise

If volpatos is the best for stand in wpg then why did your guys get spanked.Originally Posted by Benjamin Dover
Dude,I was there and also read your post about the event and it is clear to anyone that you must be from Volpatos. To feel proud of your club is cool and all but there are alot of established clubs in wpg and you aint one.The fighters from Volpatos were ok and if this was there first fight did good but to say that your the best stand up in wpg is pretty fat headed.Especially since they lost.
I also don`t know of any Silat in Wpg. If you are looking for rare/exotic arts, why not Sikaran/Arnis? I left Winnipeg in 1997 so I`m not really sure if their club still exists.
There used to be a great Mande Muda/Eskrima instructor who taught out of Vancouver and later Calgary, but I hear he has retired. Other than this guy, I don`t know of any Silat in western Canada.
