Sunday night on Fox Sports Portlands finest Steven "2pound" Forbes fights former Shane Moseley victim John "The Eastern Beast" Brown for the vacant IBF 130lb. crown. 2pound is an exciting jr. lightweight prospect with blazing speed and smooth defensive moves. In his last outing he outgunned a game David Santos. Dominating his way to a 12 round decision in which he had Santos on the canvas. Brown is a warrior fighting the likes of Moseley and Corrales. But at only 5'4 he is in for a long night against the younger, quicker Forbes. So check it out. It's on at 8pm et/pt on your regional Fox sports station. Watch a future pound for pound entrant win his first world title and put Portland on the map. It's the best free fight on TV this weekend.
Real quick and to the point my prediction for Vargas vs. Trinidad. Vargas by 12 round decision. DLH boxed Trinidads ears off and all he did was follow him around. This time he will be fighting a true Azteca warrior in Vargas. You will see the meaning of the term Power BOxing as put forth by "EL Feroz". [Edited by BIG BIRD on 11-30-2000 at 06:42 PM] |

Keith, see you "Next Friday".
When watching the fight, I saw these guys taking so many hits, how do you guys think this would have turned out with some lighter gloves vs those foam pillows they had on their hands? I think there would have been alot of cuts and bruises, but I wonder if there was much knock out power behind alot of those shots. I missed the first two rounds, though, so I didn't see the action there. The fight after it was hillarious.

That a boy, Chad.
Did anyone see Hopkin's fight on Friday on Showtime? Eventhough it was a boxing match, that had to be one of the best nhb fights of the year. There was hitting after the break and at one point, hopkins was slammed down to the canvas by his opponent. Great fight! As far as trinidad v Jones, am I the only one that thinks trinidad would get murdered? What the hell are trinidad and foreman thinking. Eating rights from the likes of Vargas and Dela hoya doesn't compare to the power of a Jones....

Yea Big Bird, I noticed the hand wraps under there were very thick up on the knuckles. You're right, I've never stepped in a boxing ring with 'boxing gloves', I watch the sport for other reasons applicable to NHB fighting. Thanks for pointing that out about the gloves, though.
