Cool

Sunday night on Fox Sports Portlands finest Steven "2pound" Forbes fights former Shane Moseley victim John "The Eastern Beast" Brown for the vacant IBF 130lb. crown. 2pound is an exciting jr. lightweight prospect with blazing speed and smooth defensive moves. In his last outing he outgunned a game David Santos. Dominating his way to a 12 round decision in which he had Santos on the canvas. Brown is a warrior fighting the likes of Moseley and Corrales. But at only 5'4 he is in for a long night against the younger, quicker Forbes. So check it out. It's on at 8pm et/pt on your regional Fox sports station. Watch a future pound for pound entrant win his first world title and put Portland on the map. It's the best free fight on TV this weekend.

Real quick and to the point my prediction for Vargas vs. Trinidad. Vargas by 12 round decision. DLH boxed Trinidads ears off and all he did was follow him around. This time he will be fighting a true Azteca warrior in Vargas. You will see the meaning of the term Power BOxing as put forth by "EL Feroz".

Too close to call man. Even Emmanuel Steward, who says he's usually right in predicting matches, won't touch this one. I agree - Vargas by decision (split decision).

After being behind in the fight Steven "2POUND" Forbes stopped John Brown in the 6th after he landed a right hand on the ear which burst the eardrum. The doctor stopped the fight. CONGRATULATIONS POUND!

Keith, see you "Next Friday".

When watching the fight, I saw these guys taking so many hits, how do you guys think this would have turned out with some lighter gloves vs those foam pillows they had on their hands? I think there would have been alot of cuts and bruises, but I wonder if there was much knock out power behind alot of those shots. I missed the first two rounds, though, so I didn't see the action there.

The fight after it was hillarious.

The grappling arts imply most fights end up on the ground. The striking arts imply all fights start standing up. The clinching arts imply the clinch can stop the striker from striking, and the grappler from taking it to the ground. The weapon arts imply the they can stop the unarmed man. A complete martial art implies any fight can go anywhere...be ready and able to go everywhere.

Let me first respond about the "foam pillows." They were 10 oz. Reyes gloves where the padding is mainly in the back and wrist areas of the gloves. Do not forget the approximately 6-10' of gauze and tape that is used under the gloves to wrap that they use to wrap the fighters hands with. Then the cornerman take the laces and run them over the fist area and "skin back" every last bit of padding they can. Therefore you are pretty much getting hit with handwrap everytime you are hit. You made a comment about cuts and bruises, well look at both fighters faces afterwards. Last thing about how you wonder about the KO power in alot of the punches to answer that The Raiders do not throw a hail mary every snap do they. If you throw nothing but bombs you get worn out more easily and the guy gets used to it. But if you switch up the tempo on your shots by going speed, speed,POWER. You then have him confused. It's like running the ball in football.

Talking LMAO EJ!

That a boy, Chad.

Did anyone see Hopkin's fight on Friday on Showtime? Eventhough it was a boxing match, that had to be one of the best nhb fights of the year. There was hitting after the break and at one point, hopkins was slammed down to the canvas by his opponent. Great fight!

As far as trinidad v Jones, am I the only one that thinks trinidad would get murdered? What the hell are trinidad and foreman thinking. Eating rights from the likes of Vargas and Dela hoya doesn't compare to the power of a Jones....

Yea Big Bird, I noticed the hand wraps under there were very thick up on the knuckles. You're right, I've never stepped in a boxing ring with 'boxing gloves', I watch the sport for other reasons applicable to NHB fighting. Thanks for pointing that out about the gloves, though.

I came off wrong in the first sentence of my post. I changed it before I saw you responded. No offense meant I am sorry for sounding like a prick.
