Default Royce-Yoshida, thoughts and questions

I haven't seen the fight yet. I just heard about it and saw some pictures.

I didn't know that is actually a fight, I thought it was just a gi submission grappling match. Wasn't that how it was last time. So I was really surprised to see skinny Royce without his gi top on and also to see him kicking Yoshida in the pictures. Yoshida's face was swollen at the end.

Apparently Royce committed an illegal groin kick at one point.

So, what happened? Yoshida was expecting to fight an opponent with the gi and Royce didn't wear the top. Was it supposed to be 'no strikes' or did Royce decide to change the rules at the last sec?

How did Royce take Yoshida down and get his back? I didn't think there was any way he could do that. It looked like Yoshida almost got mata-leo'd.

Anyone know what the rules were? Anyone see the fight or match or whatever it was?

this is all here-say but i heard Royce didnt wear the top just to throw yosh off a little bit, ruin his game plan.Pretty clever if you ask me. I also heard that it was Royce's match the whole way. They both got a couple of reversals from the bottom but I guess Royce had him mounted a couple of times and slapped him around for a bit. The scoring situation that pride has scored there match a draw. All the people who seen it said if it were UFC they would have anounced Royce's name at the end.

Thanks.
Were the rules changed? Was there supposed to be striking in this match?

The way I heard it Royce was pretty much the winner. I haven't seen any pictures but I guess Yoshida's face was kind of swelled up.

Yeah, he didn't look as skinny as he used to. I noticed he looked more muscular at the UFC Hall of Fame induction. Maybe he's lifting.

Can't wait to see this fight. This PRIDE looks pretty cool. I don't get as into the UFC anymore, PRIDE has a better blend of great fighters, great matchups, and big names. It's basically the same rules but UFC seems boring in comparison.

I suspect the fight may have turned out different if Yoshida had time to heal.
(He's pretty banged up)

Kind of funny how the rule Royce insisted on (no judges) came back to haunt him.

yoshi was given time and he told the ref he was fine before the fight was restarted, plus the fact that all fighters wear a cup, the damage would of been minimal.

royce's only rule was that if neither of them submitted or ko'ed the other, it would be a draw, not a bad move considering what happened the first time.

i just see it as the start of a beautiful relationship, a nice opening to royce/yoshida 3

Uh, I think he meant 'banged up' from the fight with Silva. Not the nut shot.
Who should Royce fight next? Maybe Sakurai?
