If you want to do most judo throws, you need to have an opponents arm caught in your armpit, what is the best way to get into it? Any suggestions?

You can do throws that way, but there are a ton of throws in Judo that have no arm grab involved at all. Leg sweeps and reaps, lapel and collar throws. My favorites involve grabbing the belt behind the opponents back, perfect for forward throws over the hip of throws back over your leg. And it works well outside competition, just grab the waist of their blue jeans, same effect.
As for getting the arm, the best way I have found is to let them grab you. Circle your arm to the inside of theirs and shoot it out over the top. Then circle back in. (Wax on grasshopper.) If they let go, shoot in for a belt grab, if they don't you have a good standing lock that can be used to throw, or if you are tall enough a standing arm bar. |

For the link to the "OGOSHI" throw that sweep'em gave me, I was wondering why the guy in the picture stepped in with his right foot first.I always thought for the ogoshi you were supposed to step in deep with your left foor, swing around with your right while bending down, then lift knees and throw. Help me out here please.
