Default any easy ways to let me know how to do a cartwheel without feeling like a mule

I just got back into martial arts a few weeks ago, taekwondo & judo. Anyway, in judo class our instructor has us doing cartwheels. Anyway, the reason I am posting this is because I seem to have trouble getting my legs to go over my head when my hands hit the ground. I was wondering if anybody could tell me if there are any secrets that I should know about or if I just have to figure out on my own. I can't help but think that there probably isn't a secret and I'm willing to keep on trying cartwheels until I figure out how to make my legs go over. Anyway, I just wanted to see if there are any secrets I should know about. Thanks in advance for the help. Jim.

ah perhaps to the untrained eye it looks useless. Perhaps with time, patience, training, and a six pack those plain old cartwheels become the "raging cartwheel of death" technique that is so feared it has never been seen before by the public and has not been written down onto any instruction notes because it is too powerful to even be put down onto paper without the user being blown up into smitherines and stuff. Luckily I have reached a level high enough so that cannot happen to me. Anyways the secret to a kick ass cart wheel is close your eyes and throw yourself as hard as you can and hopefully you will land on your feet and not your face.

Well I have plenty of time. I have been practicing & practicing and when i walk up the stairs i feel it in my legs. Anyway, I kind of figured there was no secret I figured I would give it a shot anyway. But I'll keep on trying and one day soon I hope I will land on my feet. Thanks for the help. Jim.

Look in the yellow pages for a gymnastics school. Call them up and ask if they do adults courses. If they do, go into the school and talk to the adults' instructor. As the instructor for a handfull of private lessons. If the adult instructor doesn't do private lessons, don't let that stop you! Convince him/her! Then, when you are having your private lessons, look at hand stands, cartwheels and tumbling. Then you will be able to do them. I used to have a fear of putting my centre of gravity forward, which inhibited me in my ability to cartwheel (not important for me), hand stand (ditto), back kick (important), forward shoulder roll (important) and arm bar from mount (important). Now I can do all those things!
