![]() | That sounds pretty good... except I have no place to store a bunch of sandbags and 2 120 pound dumbells would cost a pretty penny.

Work for takedowns, defenses of takedowns, work for position, shadow boxing in the top mount to set off armbar submission, chain all your moves together. Develop contant movement and flow. This mixed with a partner or grappling dummy will bring your game up a few levels. Floor bags or grappling dummies- the ground and pound game! basically it is the same as the shadow grappling but you now have an object to punch and move around, and submit.

![]() ![]() | Get mats in your garage, and invite a BJJ friend over to train with you. Do one single technique for an hour. Do it on both sides. Then your body might remember how to do it in sparring. Cakegirl

![]() | Actually, I've tried sandbag training and it is really grueling... But "yes," you guys are right — it's hard to keep sandbags around the house (unless you have a big house and yard). In my opinion, grappling requires functional strength like pulling, lifting and pushing. Hence, I use a set of barbells, some chairs and I'm set... I try to perform my exercises with explosive power while maintaining good form. Here are some of the things I've done in the past when conditioning for grappling. Military Press Bent Row Squat Lunge Farmer's Walk Parallel Bar Dips Bench Press Except for the Bar Dips, every exercise is done using barbells. The compound exercises: bench press, squat and bent row are great for developing overall body strength. Complement a jogging routine and you should be in good shape. |
