Because he can do what he wants.Ryan wants the fight on the ground(No doubt).Although Sak is good at playing his game and avoiding take downs,Ryan did TAKE A DOUBLE ON A OLYMPIC WRESTLER.I think he was a Olympic wrestler anyway.Renzo was so sure that Ryan couldnt take him down,he pt $1,000.00 on it and lost.And,Ryan can also let his hands fly.When I saw the clip of his fight,he reminded me of Vitor Belfort.He can let his hands go and with accuracy.I think that almost all of his punches landed.And,according to a Renzo Gracie student,the student was watching Ryan punch and said Ryan can punch very good.He also held a bag for Ryan to kick,he said he can kick good as well.

LOL @ those LOLing @ MA for making the "Olympic wrestler" comment--Ishizawa WAS an Olympic alternate (meaning he took second place in Japan nationals) in 1996. He is an Olympic-caliber wrestler. Of course, Ryan's takedown probably only worked because of the surprise factor, but it's still pretty impressive.
