Frank Shamrock won the match by decision (1-0) in the MMA match (five rounds, three minute rounds) held at the K1 Grand Prix last light. Word is that the match was close but Frank Shamrock was the agresor. Australian Elvis Sinosic is most well known for his recent match against Dave Beneteau at the UCC event in Montreal that resulted as a draw.

Props to Elvis for lasting five rounds with a great fighter and giving him all he could handle.

Frank does not appear to be ready for Sakuraba.

Based on this Elvis fight, Frank does not appear to be able to do anything to Sak in stand-up. K-1 is very different from NHB, but Sak has proven against many opponents that they can't hurt him in stand up, even Igor.

Sak by submission if they fight.

Anybody know of a more detailed account of the fight somewhere?

Vale Tudo Special Match : three min. rounds.

Elvis Sinosic vs. Frank Shamrock.

Frank wears an Indian headress to the ring and then does a native American dance in the ring.
Meanwhile, Rickson Gracie is shown watching intently from the audience. A good first round of action
sees Shamrock score a takedown but Elvis fight effectively from the guard. Shamrock stands up with
about 30 seconds left in the round and they both land some good shots in the standup. Shamrock
scores another takedown and looks for a choke but the bell sounds.

There is some more good striking in the second round. Elvis uses his longer reach to land some good
leg kicks before going to the ground again. Once again nothing decisive happens on the mat, so Frank
disengages again. It goes to the mat again but the bell sounds before any submissions can take place.

In the third, Elvis strikes well and Frank takes it to the mat. I am not well versed in grappling enough
to describe all the techniques but both guys attempt submissions and each ends up in the mounted
position at a time. Frank disengages and lands a big shot when Elvis stands up. They go to the mat
again with Frank on top but no submissions imminent as the bell sounds.

In the fourth round Elvis pulls Frank into his guard while Shamrock would rather stand and strike.
They both try for leg locks and Elvis seems close to getting one, but Frank punches his way out. Fifth
round: once again Elvis pulls Frank to the ground as he seems content to fight from his back. The ref.
stands them up due to inactivity but they immediately return to the same position. The match ends with
Frank punching from Elvis* guard. I*m not sure what the judging criteria is but Shamrock wins the
decision. Seems like a draw could have been argued but perhaps Shamrock gets the nod due to
aggression.

Elvis Sinosic has a match scheduled in the UCC show in Montreal in January against Jeremy Horn. It will be intresting to see what Horn can do to him.

I dont know if Sinosic can be called a tune up match to prepare for Sakuraba since Sinosic's style of fighting has more in common to someone like Bustamente who relies on his guard. Note Elvis Sinosic represents Machado BJJ, though he also has training in kickboxing.
