I saw one of those tae bo commercials today and of coarse they were trying to pass it of as a martial art and tried to make it seem like you'll actually learn to defend yourself. Well they also said that Billy Blanks was one of the greatest martial artist of all time!?! Is that at all true, did he ever study a real martial art?
thanks |

yes Billy Blanks was a real martial artist. he never fought Full contact though he was a point fighter. But if you really look at those tae bo comercials he has good technique. but who knows if he can really fight. Tae bo is full of shit its for old fat women.

Billy did study MA and did well at some tournaments, but he claims to be 7 time World champion or some crap like that. I think martial artists would rip apart his MA resume, but hell he is making a TON of cash. He did kickboxing and TKD. All the power to him, though. He is selling himself and his tapes like anyone of us would if we could.
I do think that he might get sued sometime for claiming that it helps with self-defense. I can picture an older woman actually thinking that she is learning a real fighting system and getting seriously injured trying to fight off a perp she normally wouldn't fight. I think in that regard he is being irresponsible. Smoke |
