www.rossboxing.com
When you purchase one of his programs, Ross sends out a quarterly news letter that covers different facets of boxing from the mental to the physical. - He has a good physical/mental/technical program for boxing (good for kickboxing too!). - A fitness and conditioning geared for MMA. - Supplemental drills/excercises that you can add to your regimen that are low-tech, affordable and effective. |

http://www.scientific-streetfighting...tlearning.html Everything in my training association revolves around some form of hands on training. With my E-Training, which involves no rank, I try to tailor special attention to a student in another location via members only forum, email, personal evaluation video and my technique instructional videos and of course theres always the telephone. I'm in Northen Ca. and currently have an assissatant instructor under me and another student of mine in Southern Ca. They both have personal training with me but they are my "gueina pigs" for this program. With E-Training it allows me and my assisstants to establish realationships with students who want to train but are for some reason or another do not have an instructor to train under and need guidance. With special arrangements a student can "earn" rank but rank is not offered as part of the E-Training program in general. Just training. Also in the spring I have 3 students who will be promoted to their 1 degree black belt. They will not be full instructors yet but this will let me "expand my reach" a bit as I teach small groups in differant locations with that "expansion" as a primary focus. I think that keeping a grip on quality control is almost as important as the training itself.

A "real" teacher is definitely better than book or video. But, a book or video serves as a good supplement. Also, for individuals that want to learn a specific art, sometimes books and videos are the only thing that is available. I myself have learned a lot from instructors but I've also learned a lot from books and videos.

A book or vid cannot give you feedback. Esp if something is being done incorrectly. Whereas I agree, books and vids have a purpose for reference, not supplemental. |

I've used both ways of training. And when someone is comfortable with there teaching abilities, then it is possible that they are able "send their messge" in a way that others can't. Anything that I offer is supplemental to the "hands on" training except if someone wants to try distant training before be able to get the hands on training, then I am sincere at "helping" them but without hands on training then NO rank can be obtained. I don't think it's an argument of what is better. WE all know what is better. But the real question is what is the need of the individual student. When I take in a new student, I teach them privately for a few weeks to a month 1 on 1. I'm able to excelerate them so that I don't take away from the other students when they are all together. Beginners need more attention. That is teaching to the student. If one is more concerned with "teaching to the class" then they could go to the nearest "Mc Dojo."

I've been very happy with Scott Sonnon's materials. Here's a few sites with more info on getting started and for getting help:

It helps because you can rewind and watch it over and over until it looks good. It's obvious a live instructor is much better, but what if you're out in the middle of Alaska and there's nobody within 500 miles to teach you? Better to learn something than nothing at all.

Online programs do help if the instructor has the knowledge and is sincere. But online is something totally separate from the rest. It's not a focus for buisness. Not in the least, but there are those out who do inquire! Go to my page http://www.scientific-streetfighting...formation.html and see what I offer for less than evryone else. I don't teach for less than 1.5-2 hours. I'm going into other areas to train instructors and build up my group. But like I said theres a McDojo near all of us for more money and a 60 min. class. With your attitude you come off as a disrespectful fool. You ought to fill out your profile, that is if theirs anything to put in it. ![]()
