When we work technique in class, I always try to think of my striking opportunities and what I could do, and my opponent could do to me, if there were no rules. Of course you can't and wouldn't do that to your partner, but its good to keep those things in mind, and train striking while on the ground with focus mits, heavy bag on the ground, etc. I think BJJ and MMA in general train excellent attributes to prepare you for a real confrontation, but keep in mind the things that the rules don't allow you or your partner to do. | |

![]() | in any 1 vs multiple attackers scenario, you must go for the strongest person first. If you dont, then you will be done. By taking out the strongest/best fighter, you then increase the chances of you successfully defeating whoever is left(the weaker opponents.) Since your first strikes have to be devasting, i recommend elbows and knees. You have to understand that your going to get hurt but if your will is strong, you should be ok. Its ok if they hurt you, you just dont want to be defeated. Since after making the intial contact with the first opponent, things are going to get crowded real fast as his buddy/buddies try to intervene and help, and the elbow knee selection will work well in close quarters. Just my opinion. |
