Default Is Allan Goes video series good?

I haven't found any reviews for it but it seems good and he is a great fighter. Anyone know where I can buy his series also. I am also interested in Chris Haetuers BJJ streetfighting series, Ralphs series (Ralph better get a rematch and beat up Gomi), Wallid Isamils vale tudo videos, and Pedro Sauers new tapes. Any info on where I can buy them or if they are good is appreciated.

Mr. Miyagi will become famous soon enough

If you haven't found a review for those then it may be because some companies are very touchy about negative press and threaten legal action.

Wallid's tapes are pretty standard from the scattered bits that I saw. He keeps saying how he's teaching the real jiujitsu, the stuff other people don't teach, but as far as I saw he taught the same stuff. His English is just ok but he definitely knows his stuff.

I haven't seen Pedro Sauer's tapes but I am sure that they would be excellent. Can't go wrong with a guy like him, he knows bjj through and through, and he speaks english well. Let me know what you think if you get them.

I didn't know Ralph even had videos out. I have a book by him called The Complete BJJ Instructional Manual. It shows a few techniques but I don't know about the title of that book, since it's pretty short. Hell, if I master those moves will Ralph give me a black belt?

Sperry's videos are so great that I wouldn't bother with most of the others. His English is great, his explanations are great, his detail is great, he teaches the art better than anyone else. He also teaches a lot of techniques that others miss.

Rumina Sato has a single tape on shootfighting that you should get. It's a nice contrast from position oriented bjj stuff with striking advice mixed in. It's in Japanese but by his demonstrations you can tell what he's teaching. He has some very interesting techniques on there.

E-mail Bill Lewis and he can get you in touch with someone who sells almost any grappling tape out there. There is a link to his grappling reviews at bjj.org.

Do not invest any money into the Allan Goes tapes. They aren't very good, and are really dated. You've got a bunch of better choices. I've only seen one of Haueters tapes, it was stuff for the street, pretty good if that is what you are looking for. One series that is often neglected or not mentioned as much as it should be is the Bob Bass 12 tapes series. I liked these a lot. Micheal Jen has some good stuff availble and for the price, Island Videos has some good stuff. They only charge 16.95 per DVD. Rodrigo Medeiros put some good things out in his series and the Chris Brennan series is praised, mostly for his Kimura DVD which I liked. Rey Diogo also has a series by Island which I have heard some positive things about.

Or you can invest into my documentary/instructional DVD (Tools of the Trade, $17) which comes out in 2 weeks and features over a dozen different Black Belts and trainers filled with interviews, instructional segments and some footage on that mat as well. Sorry, had to plug the product

You won't be dissappointed with it though.

E-mail us at RMOVideo@hotmail.com if you have any questions.

Thanks. Now I know not to buy Goes tapes. I couldn't find any place that sell them anyway. Kid Peligro in a article said that Ralph tapes were good and I saw something saying they are 5 stars. I think I will check out Haeteurs, Ismail VT, and a few others and decide. Sorry but can I also get info on Joe Moreria non belt ranking tapes like BJJ techs against kickboxers and BJJ against multiple opponents(got to check this one out) and BJJ for self defense? Also is Carlson Gracie Jrs BJJ Streetfighting series good?

LOL. He will probaly make you come in on strikes for takedowns like the book shows so if you could do that without him sprawling and and kneeing you each time sure he probaly would. But I would not want to take that chance. I was thinking about getting Ralphs book but I opted for John B Wills BJJ Fundumentals instead.

It sounds like you're into BJJ for the street?? The Sperry tapes won't dissappoint you. The one gripe people have about Joe's tapes is that his english is a little tricky and tough to understand. I do have a pretty good tape by him, it's a guard passing seminar that was being sold by one of his black belts, Roy Harris. It had some good information. I've seen ralph's old series. It was a 6 tape series. They were actually pretty good at the time they came out, but it's been like 8 years now or so. Those Chris Haueter tapes are supposed to be geared for steet situations as far as I know, and those are produced by Straight Blast Gym.

Never even heard of those tapes. I have seen the Brown and Black Belt volumes of Carlson Jr's tapes. They had a cool conept. Not sure on the moves since it's been a long time since I seen them. But It would have Conan and Marcelo Silviera rolling light and then Carlson would talk them through it and correct any of the mistakes they made. Hope this has been helpful.

Gene Simco author of the BJJ Master Text has created a series adapting BJJ for self defense. I think I will go with that one.
