Default What are the Combat Sports rules where you live?

Just finished reading the rules and regulation for combatative sports here in Texas and was quite disappointed:

In shootfighting/wrestling, gloves are not allowed. You can only use open-palm, pankration-style strikes. I think this is stupid and severely limits you!

In all matches, Muay Thai or Kickboxing, the crap-ass American Kickboxing rules always apply, as in grabbing someone's leg, attacking with knees, etc, are all illegal.

How lame Is your state/country so restrictive?

They have UFC rules out here where I live (considering they host the UFC here all the time).

So are you saying that no event in Texas allows closed fist strikes with gloves?

Here in Washington I believe that the law is that there can be no mixing of grappling and striking, even with open palms.

Of course, state laws aren't applicable to the Indian reservations

Only boxing and kickboxing. MMA contests are regarded as wrestling and close fist strikes are not allowed.

I'm not sure what the rules in Minnesota are......rules seem to very from Muay Thai to MMA quite a bit depending on the show. They may not be inforced. In Iowa MMA competion's are divided into pro and am. In the Am's anything goes standing up, no headbuts or groinshots. But once you hit the ground you can't hit the head with anything other than an open hand, body shots are all legal though.
