Default A few questions about Erik Paulson's Combat submission wrestling

This style is made up of moves from shooto, various styles of wrestling, Bjj, sambo, and muay thai. Does this art teach all aspects of these styles, or just portions of them? Does Master Erik Paulson and his assistant instructors let you study other grappling arts? If so, which would be better to learn first, Combat submission wrestling or other grappling arts? Also, what kind of injuries are common in a combat submission wrestling class? Thanks in advance.

Combat Wrestling has a pure grappling thing and another thing which adds grappling to muay thai. I am sure they let you study other grappling arts. I am guessing he is just teaching portions of the styles.

I'm not a MMA guy, but watching many interviews with top MMA fighters Paulson is a hell of a trainer.

Erik teaches techniques that pull from a variety of arts. Whatever works in a specific situation is what he will teach. It's not thought of as doing this move from shooto and this move from wrestling...it's just doing what works. You are encouraged to study other grappling arts. The injuries are no different than in any grappling class. Injuries are kept to a minimum through safe training.

Hope that helps.

I did a seminar with him. He's a cool guy and able to make my ex instructor look like a baby in grappling. And that is a mean feat indeed.
