Ahh Yes reality based self defense... BS.. Martial Arts is and can be used for reality self defense. How? Martial arts before 98.9999% of them became the BS they are today, where used and taught for fighting purposes. Now why has that become soo rare nowdays? simple 98.9999% of them have become sport using complex kicks, fancy movements, and not enough intelligence to know how to use techniques.
Reality based self defense? its no better, in reality do you honestly think you come out on top using reality based self defense? I on one hand DO NOT THINK SO.. Instructors should teach regardless of if they teach martial arts, "reality" based self defense or any other form of defensive training, 1) verbal skills diffusion skills. 2) simple direct physical skills 3) how to avoid, run, identify and stay out of trouble in the first place. Martial Arts is REAL. it's not sport. and for those who think it's nothing but sport, i'm sorry to say have either not had a chance to train in a real martial arts defensive training school OR have been taught otherwise. Has it become sport? 98.9999% YES but does that mean every martial arts system or style is sport? NO. how can we ever change this preception? ![]()
