I have to take Randy. He seems to have a talent at exploiting other fighters strenghts and weaknesses. At this weight, I think only age will stop him. He seems to better prepared than his opponent in every fight. To me the question is can Silva stop Randy, and he's probably got a better chance than anyone else. If styles truely make the fight, then this would be awesome!

maybe if the strickers start stricking and stop letting randy grab them and push them againsed the wall then they will win i am sure if they fight in a pride ring that randy is gonna get his head knocked off

You make a good point, I wasn't thinking difference in rings. I still think Randy has a chance in the Pride ring, but to a much lesser degree than in the UFC cage. On the other hand though, I don't think Silva has much of a chance in the Cage. They don't bring them to their feet as quick in the UFC, and of course Randy can stalk him up against the cage and then take over.

Don't sleep on Randy's stand-up game. He beat Liddell at his own game, and Liddell is very good striker with the absolute best take down defense going. I don't think Liddell is as solid on his feet as Silva though. I think if Couture tries to stand and trade with Silva like he did Liddell he will get knocked out. Couture was able to take Liddell down and keep him down better than anyone I have every seen though, and Silva doesn't have the same takedown defense that Liddell does.

This would either be a great fight, or a crap fight to watch. I don't think it could be an OK fight. They will either come out trying to blast each other or they will be so concerned about the other they will be tentative for the entire thing.

It will only happen if it is in a PrideFC ring with PrideFC judges. Here's the Randy vs. Wanderlei fight outline:

Round 1

1. Initial quick exchange at the start of the fight. Wanderlei throws the bigger shots but Randy manages to weather the storm.
2. Randy clinches. Wanderlei attempts to use his Muay Thai clinch skills (which are excellent) but this only opens him up for Randy's modified Greco-Roman clinch attack.
3. Randy places Wanderlei on his side and starts to pound.

Round 2

See the description for round 1

Round 3

See the description for round 1

Card goes to the Judges and Wanderlei wins in what the judges and other PrideFC officials call a "close decision." They further dig a hole for themselves by having Matt Hume explain the reasons why nobody understands the "correct" decision made by the judges, which of course followed PrideFC rules "perfectly." The crowd at the fights will boo and the rest of us will shake our heads in disbelief. The rest of us that is except for the half-dozen Internet mavens who will sharp-off with statements like "To all you Couture nutt-huggers . . . HAHAHA!"

In conclusion: Randy will win the fight if it is anywhere outside of a PrideFC ring and without PrideFC judges. Unfortunately, PrideFC won't let the fight happen anywhere that they can't protect their goldenboy.

Couture.

All Americans need to root for "Captain America." I mean come on...

I have a lot of respect for Wanderlei, but Couture is just a better fighter. He is also smarter and a more sophistcated strategist than Wanderlei.

I hope it doesn't happen in a pride ring...

Dj..that was briliant. Truly..I wouldn't have thought to think of some of those things..but in hindsight, you are absolutely right. My brothers and I have this "thing" that we have noticed for many years now that we can't quite explain or put into words that make sense..over the years it became affectionately known as "Japanese Weirdness". DON'T think that I have prejudices against these people I have some GREAT friends from Japan..but there is this intangible element that they have...its in there commercials and their anime' and their porn..oops, didn't mean to say that..and its really there in force in Pride. Just the strangeness that makes you cock your head sideways

I think Randy has Silva's number..I wouldn't have said that before Tito and Chuck...but Damn man! But I think you're right about Pride..too bad.

It's fun to speculate, but until I actually see them in a ring/cage...We could spend just as many hours talking about who Rickson will never fight as well.
