![]() | This is my first posting. In in my youth I studied both Judo and Karate. Now after finishing college, I decided to go back to training in martial arts. The problem was, with so many styles to choose from I didn't know what to start off. I only took Judo for two semesters until I reached yellow belt and quit. Then I took Karate during my high school days, but it was an informal class, that is, no uniforms only using our very own street clothes. After doing some research I found a martial art that might be suited for my needs. It's called Jukado. It is a combination of Judo, Karate, Kung Fu and Akido. I would like to know if anyone has train in this style and what it offers. Is it considered a true self-defense martial art or merely a sport? Whitestar |

![]() | Whitestar: You didn't say where your from, But there is a school in Portland Maine that teaches what they call jukado, Sorry I don't know anything about them, But if your talking about the jukado system that was taught by Bruce Tegner, that is an effective training program for self defense, Bruce combined the most effective ideas and technique's from judo, karate, and akido, and the rest of what he knew about self defense to have a belt ranking system for those who were not interested in learning the sport or art of martial arts, Bruce had Meany books out on martial arts and self defense from the 1960's through the late 1980's, The books on judo and karate, while including some self defense are primarily sport and art, But his books, the complete book of self defense, the 21 day s/d course and self defense for men and boy's, and his jukado books are more self defense oriented. below is a web site with some info on Bruce. http://www.geocities.com/brucetegnersociety/

Thanks for the website. It was informative. I reside in Florida. Do you happen to know if there is a martial arts school that teaches Jukado? Whitestar | |
